FAQs

Everything you might want to know about ordering, care, and the work itself.

Shipping & Delivery

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes — all UK orders ship free with tracked delivery.

How long until my order is dispatched?

Orders are usually dispatched within 3–5 working days. You'll receive tracking information by email once your piece is on its way. If you need something sooner, please contact me and I'll do my best to accommodate.

Do you gift wrap orders?

All orders are wrapped in tissue paper as standard. If you'd like a personalised message included for your recipient, please email the message to hello@studioceramix.com once your order is placed.

Do you ship internationally?

I offer free shipping in the UK. International customers, please get in touch for a shipping quote — I'm happy to arrange international delivery for specific pieces.

Returns & Damages

What if my piece arrives damaged?

We do everything we can to avoid works arriving damaged by third parties. Please get in touch in writing with clear photographs of the damage within 24 hours of arrival.

Can I return an undamaged piece?

As each piece is individually handmade, I'm unable to accept returns for unwanted or undamaged items. Please get in touch before ordering if you have any questions about a specific piece — I'm happy to share more photos or details to help you decide.

Care

How should I care for my ceramics?

Handmade ceramics reward a little extra care. Hand washing is best to keep your piece looking its best, although pieces are dishwasher and food safe unless noted otherwise on the individual product page.

What should I avoid?

  • Microwave and oven use
  • Placing pieces on surfaces that may be easily scratched
  • Sudden temperature changes (e.g. cold piece into a very hot oven)

Why are some glazes glossy and others matt?

I work with both finishes — gloss to catch the light, matt for a softer, more tactile feel. Each piece is glazed individually with care, and the finish is chosen to suit the form.

Commissions

Do you take commissions?

Yes — I love working on bespoke pieces crafted with care to your vision. See how the process works, or contact me directly with any projects in mind.

Can I commission a single piece or a collection?

Yes — there's no minimum order. A one-off piece or a full collection are both welcome.

How long do commissions take?

Around 12 weeks is typical, though it varies with the time of year, other projects in the studio, and the complexity of your brief. If you need something sooner, just ask — I'll do my best to accommodate.

Can you work from references?

Yes, please — sketches, photos, fabric swatches, or just a colour you can't get out of your head all help me understand your vision.

Do you make matching sets?

Yes. Each piece is individually made though, so no two will be identical in dimensions, weight, or glaze finish. I'll always do my best to achieve a cohesive set.

Do you use bright colours?

Yes — I love working with colour on commissions. Depending on the brief, I'll find the right glaze, underglaze, or combination of techniques to get the result you're after.

How do you decide which glaze to use?

From the conversation about the brief and any references you've shared, I'll talk you through the options that'll bring the piece to life.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes — I'll provide a shipping quote for the commissioned piece and talk through the options with you.

Do you offer wholesale?

For wholesale enquiries, please get in touch — I'd love to hear from you.

About the Work

Where are your pieces made?

Every piece is wheel-thrown and finished by hand in my London studio. The Tenmoku glaze that defines much of the work is mixed from raw materials using traditional Japanese techniques.

Why do pieces in the same series vary?

Each piece is individually made and glazed, so there will be slight variations in size, colour, and surface compared to the photos and between different pieces in the same series. This is the nature of handmade ceramics — every piece is genuinely one of a kind.
